My Jubilation

What is happiness?

Everyday people say they are happy.  They wake up, they go to work or school or whatever it is they do on a daily basis and they are happy.   Are they really?  I thought that I was happy for a long time, but I know now I wasn’t.  I’m not sure if I was complacent or in denial, but I know that I wasn’t happy.  I wasn’t for a long time.
Shawn Michaels said he lost his smile and that he had to go find it and I can now understand what he meant by that.
My lack of happiness affected just about everything around me in my life.  It affected my work, added multitudes of stress, didn’t allow me to truly enjoy the things that I love, and even effected my interactions with my children.  I can see that now.

So much has changed this past year and through it all I can sit here today and say that I am happy.  Truly happy with my life, where I am, and where I’m going, and who with.

So what is it that makes me happy?  Well in no certain order….

Another Saturday and Another Wedding!?!

So another Saturday came and went and I attended yet another wedding.  This time I was not in the wedding party the as I was the plus 1 of my best lady Kate!

But first, before I can even head out to Monroe for the nuptials I had a very busy Dad morning.  First off Addison had soccer at 8am, with team photo's just before that.

Then at 9am Canaan had Soccer.  Melissa took him and I met them there and she left to do her thing,  I took the kids to the Barn next to feed Rocky and check out the animals. Then Canaan had Soccer at 1030 am, which started and ended late because of team photos.

I dropped the kids and their stuff off at their mothers and after a quick lunch at Webbs, and changing my clothes at the Baldwin Sisters I headed to Monroe.  It took a little over an hour to drive to Monroe where Meaghan and KC were getting married at her dad's house.  It was really all quite beautiful!  KC and his friends did an excellent job decorating the barn and the area where the ceremony was.  And the weather held out, it was just gorgeous!

The Man of Honor and the Best Woman

The Groom KC aka Candyman, I don't know his real name, and their daughter Freye!

This is the Bride Meaghan Blythe-Cook and her dad, I couldn't get a good shot of them walking down.

Here is the happy bride and groom after their ceremony.  I really like this picture, which was taken with my phone as my camera is still broken. I'm curious if Meaghan is going to change her name to his last name, or just add another hyphen giving her the most hyphenated name I have ever seen!

There was a two piece band that played some solid tunes.  Best of all the drummer had Optimus friggin' Prime on his drum set!!

The food was a pig roast with lots of other vittles, some vegan fair.  I tried a bunch of stuff I have never heard of and some I would never have again!  The desserts were great!  Again some vegan fare thrown in.  My favorite would be these carrot cupcakes, fantastic!

Kate and I decided to tent it up!  We found a secluded spot to set up and showed some excellent team work in doing so!  You know where the team work failed?  At 4am when I woke up shivering because it was 47degrees and she had stolen ALL the blankets!  I battled to reclaim them only to discover that she was sweating because she was so warm!

We took two of the decorative solar lights to mark the tent entrance!

Some bonfire action closed out the evening for Kate and I.  We saw a shooting star together and had a really great time.

I awoke at 618am and we were on the road at 824 heading north to Bangor and Bagel Central to pick up 4.5 dozen bagels.  Truly the best I have ever had.  We then stopped at Dysarts for breakfast before heading south to Randolph.

That night we had bagel pizza with Emma, as did my mom which was funny!

This has nothing to do with the wedding, this is the kids catching frogs behind Uncle Bob's & Aunt Jeanne's Friday night and I just thought it was cute!

Saturday night Kate and I were talking in the tent and the conversation both made us think of a song with the line about being my or your lady and we each had a different song, mine is better.

Hers was Celine Dion's "I'm Your Lady"

Mine was Tim Hardin's "If I Were A Carpenter" which I like this Dwight Yoakam & Alison Krauss version the best.

The Rood's Nuptial Rite

Yesterday was a great day as my friends Patrick Rood and Crystal Chen celebrated their wedding day!

That was all I managed to get typed up Sunday before my son called me and asked me to go play football with him.  How could I say no?

Anyhow, so two days ago a couple good friends of mine tied the knot in a very nice ceremony and reception at the Elks Lodge in Waterville.  I was lucky enough to be the best man and my beautiful little princess was the flower girl.

I was rocking my tuxedo, loving the red on black.  Crys made boutonnieres that featured mostly marvel characters that Rood had seen on Pinterest, his was Captain America, mine Thor.  Rood's dad was Batman, Crys' dad Iron Man, and the ring bearer was Spider-Man.

Addison the beautiful flower girl!  She kept moving closer to the camera so I kept snapping pictures because she was so pretty.  She also had JUST woken up from a nap.

Visiting daddy at the front with the rest of the wedding party.

After the ceremony we went outside for some pictures. I love that Addison made a face while looking so pretty.

I couldn't help but notice through the course of the evening that the girls spend a lot of time dancing in big groups.

I had a wonderful evening Addison was so pretty and was so well behaved!! We danced a lot, and she didn't want to leave she has such a great time.

The only thing for me that could have made the day better is if my best lady Kate was there.  She was 1100 miles away in Kentucky at a wedding herself.

Here she is with the bride, her friend Meagan.
Next Saturday we will be going to wedding together, another friend of her's, another Meaghan actually. I'm looking forward to it!

Let's get sappy!
